Becoming Intimate with the Earth: a Work and Play Shop Bethlehem Centre

                        May 12 – 13, 2017 Bethlehem Centre Nanaimo BC

We have a new sacred narrative for the world – a scientific cosmology that redefines the role of humans and offers hope in these challenging times. Pauline Le Bel, in her book, Becoming Intimate with the Earth, offers powerful ways to live inside that story.

With wisdom, wit, poetry and music, Pauline will guide workshop participants through the Ways of Intimacy described in her book: Wonder, Emptiness, Imagining, Transformation and Community. Immerse yourself in Earth’s beauty and generosity. Experience how you are embraced by, and embedded in, the natural world. And come away with your own intimacy practices.

Review: “Science-rich, artful, soul-nourishing.” Michael Dowd, author, Thank God for Evolution

Praise for Becoming Intimate with the Earth workshop:

“Pauline came to Seattle to do a customized presentation for a long term study group focused on connecting humanity with the consciousness of the Natural World.  She created a dynamic, interactive session based on specific sections of her book, Becoming Intimate with the Earth, that we had been focusing on.  Her ability to engage her audience with themes of both joy and sorrow is authentic.  She involves both the mind and the heart in a way that is irresistible.  I highly recommend her workshops!”

Praise for Telling New Stories for Our Times workshop:
“I participated in the story-telling workshop in November and honestly, it was life changing for me. I had a moment during the workshop where I felt very brave and inspired to apply for a new job. I got hired and am now doing important work with Indigenous stories and law and the environment. Amazing how things unfold when we let them.”

 Maxine, participant 2015

“Thank you for a most inspiring and encouraging workshop. Your gifts of storytelling and song invited us to transcend ourselves. I loved the explorations that you engaged us in. Thank you for your generous offerings of time and presence.

PAST WORKSHOPS

Telling New Stories for Our Uncertain Times – Vancouver

We have become disenchanted and disempowered by the stories told by the generals, the politicians, and the oil conglomerates. One of the most evolutionary acts we can engage in today is the telling of new, transformational stories. Inspired by the science-based Universe Story – the modern story of our origins – participants will explore basic elements of storytelling and be supported in the creation of their own stories – political, economic, cultural, personal.

No storytelling experience necessary

Becoming Intimate with the Earth workshop

Imagine spending a day at the exquisite VanDusen Garden, a day to immerse yourself in Earth’s beauty and generosity, and to experience how you are embraced by, and embedded in, the natural world. Pauline Le Bel’s workshop, Becoming Intimate with the Earth, invites you to do just that. With wisdom, song, and poetry you will be guided through the Ways of Intimacy described in her book: The Ways of Wonder, Emptiness, Imagining, Transformation, and Community. We will move through and out of the old stories that told us we were separate, independent, isolated beings, and breathe in the new stories – scientific, cultural, and economic – that illuminate our interdependence and responsibility to all life.

Bring your sense of awe and your sense of humour.
